History of St. Joseph College-Olongapo

St. Joseph College, Olongapo City is a diocesan institution under the Prelature of Iba, Zambales.

St. Joseph College is the first Catholic School in the city. Established in 1945 with Rev. Restituto M. Canda as the first School Director, the school was given government recognition in 1949. In school year 1950-1951, the Columban fathers and sisters from Missionary Society of St. Columban of Irelend took over the management of the school with Rev. Fr. Joseph Coneely as the Director of and Sister Mary Consuelo as the Principal. During the atrial Law years, all Columban Sister left the country for reassignment in foreign missions and the management of the school was temporarily assigned to the sister of the Daughter of Charity.

Abiding by the Filipinization of the Philippines of the parishes schemes, the columban Missionary Society handed over the school and parish management to the diocesan priest of the Prelature of Iba, Zambales in school year 2000-2011. Rev. Msgr. Fr. Hanival Brucelas is the new President in the College.
